Welcome to Metagenes, the Virginia Tech Chapter of Alpha Rho Chi, a professional fraternity for architecture and the allied arts.

Alpha Rho Chi was founded in 1914 with the joining of the Arcus Society of the University of Illinois and Sigma Epsilon of Chicago, Illinois.  The name Alpha Rho Chi was taken from the first three letters of the greek spelling of architecture, αρχιτεκτονικη.

Our chapter takes its name from the ancient Creton architect, Metagenes, who along with his father, Chersiphron, designed and constructed the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus. Built in the 6th century BC, the splendid Ionic temple was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.
